(WFXG) - The United Way of the CSRA and Community Foundation for the CSRA worked together to launch the CSRA COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund. The fund is meant to quickly and efficiently help organizations and individuals who are most in need and to respond to the longer-term impacts of the outbreak.

The two organizations identified those who are losing vital income to support their families, have lost jobs, or are going hungry as a result of school closures are some of the most at-risk populations. They will work with nonprofit and community partners to provide critical services and support and where they deem necessary, help individuals and families directly.

United Way and Community Foundation said an Ad Hoc Advisory Committee is being formed to work with the organizations' staff. The committee will help direct and address the needs in the community.

To donate to the emergency response fund, you can text UWHelps to 40403 or donate online at www.uwcsra.org or www.cfcsra.org. The organizations say 100% of all funds raised will go toward supporting individuals and families in the community impacted by COVID-19. Individuals can get connected to United Way’s free information and referral service by dialing 2-1-1 or by visiting 211csra.org to use the Community Resources Database. Each call is free and confidential.
