Earthquake in McCormick County in the midst of Hurricane Florence preps

MCCORMICK COUNTY, SC (WFXG) - A bit of a shake up over in McCormick County. An earthquake struck this on Thursday morning around 2 o'clock. It registered as a 2.6 magnitude. This comes in the midst of McCormick County Emergency Services and residents preparing for Hurricane Florence. Emergency services are already anticipating power outages, tress down and localized flooding.

"We got the priorities of our response laid out. Of course number one in our priority response is going to be life safety, second of that is going to be humanitarian needs, and third of that is pushing debris to maintain open road ways," says Chris Doolittle who is the Director of Emergency Services in McCormick County.

McCormick county is already holding about 10,000 evacuees in their camp grounds from the coast.
