YMCA to break ground in Waynesboro
YMCA coming soon to Burke County (WFXG)

WAYNESBORO, GA (WFXG) - A new YMCA is coming to Waynesboro. The Greater Augusta Family YMCA is planning to break ground on their new facility September 11th.

The $6.3 million project is being funded by Burke County and donor organizations, and is six years in the making.  The new Y hopes to bring 40 new jobs to the area, with the possibility to bring around 100 seasonal jobs.

According to a press release from the Greater Augusta Family YMCA, the new location will include:

  • Large public pool and splash pad
  • Perimeter walking trail
  • Large multi-purpose field
  • Community meeting room
  • Spinning theater
  • Expresso Virtual bikes
  • Group Exercise Rooms
  • Boot Camp/CrossFit training
  • Personal Training
  • Machine and Free Weights areas
  • Adapted Selectorize equipment (handicapped)
  • Play and Learn child care
  • Mother’s Morning Out
  • Parent’s Night Out
  • Summer Day Camp
  • Prime Time after school program
  • Corporate group memberships available

The new Waynesboro YMCA will be located at 50 Olympic Road.
