COLUMBIA COUNTY, GA (WFXG) - This year, there won't be a 2nd annual Augusta on Ice because it will be merging with Lights of the South to create Winterland.
The new Christmas tradition will be in Grovetown, where the Lights of the South have been for the past 15 years.
Winterland will start on November 16th and will still have the same attractions that made people bring the entire family to the downtown area. It will have a bigger ice skating rink, more heating area's, hay rides and two miles of lighted displays.
"I hope we do something meaningful and do it well enough that people are excited that it's in the community, they want it to stay here, they want it to grow over time and they want it to become a tradition for their family," says Chris Boerner, Founder of Augusta on Ice.
