Shooting in the 1900 block of Haynie Drive

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

On Sunday, July 2, the Richmond County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting at approximately 3:04 p.m. in the1900 block of Haynie Drive.

50-year-old Robert James Colgan had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.

The incident occurred in the front yard of 1924 Haynie Drive and  Colgan was transported to Augusta University Medical Center and is in stable condition.

Today FOX 54 has information that Investigators have charged Colgan, as it turns out he was the aggressor, not the victim, as originally thought. 

Colgan pointed his firearm at the subjects before he was shot in self-defense. 

Once he is released from the hospital, Colgan will be charged with three counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
