AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

In this week's High Five For Kids, we meet a middle school student whose life is focused on harmony and hitting just the right notes.

She can't stop thinking about it.

"When I was little, about 3 or 2 years old, I use to sing in my church choir," says Charlissa.

Singing is a part of Charlissa Smiths' soul.

"When you give her her words and her note,  she runs with it." said her Mother.

And she takes it seriously.

"To me, singing is..makes me happy, and it makes me feel like there's nothing wrong."

So seriously in fact, that she joined a music group to challenge her love of the vocal art form.  "It's a lot of discipline and more of an all-around singing group. So it's not just gospel, we sing contemporary and we do some songs from Broadway musicals," comments Charlissa.

And her mother is one-hundred percent behind her daughter.

"It gives me a good bit of joy because she loves to sing.. I mean from morning start in the shower she is in there singing."

The middle school student has also had the opportunity to travel throughout the country with her music group. And she hopes to continue the pursuit of musical performance.

"I want to be a singer/ actor."
