BURKE COUNTY, GA (WFXG) -

One woman is dead after a crash in Burke County on Sunday afternoon.  The Sheriff's Office says it happened at the intersection of Highway 25 and 24 after 4 p.m.

Investigators says it appears that 42 year-old William Cameron ran a red light and hit the side of another car which killed the driver.  The victim has been identified as 55 year-old Kimberly Godbee.  Cameron was also injured and taken to the hospital with minor injuries.  Both drivers didn't have any passengers with them.  The Sheriff's Office also says that charges are pending against Cameron.

According to Chief Deputy Lewis Blanchard, "This is the 6th fatality in Burke County so far this year.  The primary cause of crashes with injuries in our county include speed, DUI, following too closely, and distracted driving.  The Sheriff's Office takes improving traffic safety very seriously in all 835 square miles of the county and will continue with education, media reminders, and enforcement in an effort to reduce crashes and save lives."
