Paint party brings families together on Mother's Day

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

For six months, Lucresha Thomas has been touching the heart of the CSRA with her organization, Deep in the Heart Foundation, LLC. For Mother's Day, her group hosted a special Mommy and Me Paint Party for mothers and their kids.

"Basically getting the kids together to do something positive for Mother's Day," Thomas said. This year's top gifts to give mom include greeting cards, flowers and jewelry, according to a survey by City Retail Services.

Saturday on Broad Street, parents and their children enjoyed painting, food and drinks. Thomas wanted to give the gift of quality time - an experience that would last a lifetime.

"Just so the kids can feel that someone out there cares and give them positive events to do 'cuz it's too much violence going on in Augusta, Georgia or around our CSRA," Thomas explained.

Thomas said she sold 100 tickets and that both events sold out. Deep in the Heart also hosts free events in the community to further its mission: to touch the community and help everyone realize that all lives matter.
