AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - It has been bone dry across the CSRA for weeks, something that is not helping the drought situation. April 26 was the last day with any measurable rain at Augusta's Bush Field. Lake levels are near normal despite much of the area being in a moderate drought, but farmers in the area need the rain.
Augusta is running about 5 inches below normal for rainfall for the year. Long term outlooks from the Climate Prediction Center show the drought continuing through the month of May with some improvements possible this summer.
