11th annual Marine Mud Challenge at Fort Gordon

FORT GORDON, GA (WFXG) -

The Marine Corps Detachment of Fort Gordon will be hosting its 11th annual Marine Mud Challenge.  This will be on Saturday, May 12th at 8 a.m. with teams starting throughout the morning.

The course is located at the corner of 19th Street and Chamberlain Avenue on Fort Gordon.  Participants age thirteen and older will try to conquer this 5 mile off-road trail with more than 30 military style obstacles.  This includes a stream crossing, the 15 foot high cargo nets, free standing 7' high walls, a rope bridge, mud pits and 200,000 gallons of water in a four feet deep pit.

A Children's Challenge one mile off-road course will also be available.  It has more than 7 kid-sized obstacles.  This will be offered from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  All proceeds go to the installation's Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Program.
