City Leaders approve liquor license for Miller Theater before grand opening

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

A pinnacle in the downtown community is re-opening after years of renovations, The Miller Theater.

The Eloquent theater has been closed since the 1980's but will still have historic elements and now up to date amenities. The 1300 seat theater will be home to the symphony and 75 to 100 shows have already been selling tickets for this year. But as we inch closer to opening weekend, the Theater needed to get an approval from City Leaders for a liquor license.

"There's a lot of checked list stuff going on right now so everything from the final checks to the sound to lighting systems, making sure every seat has the numbers on it but getting our alcohol license approved was a very important step," says Marty Elliot, General Manager of the Miller Theater.

This Saturday there is a gala but it's already sold out.

On Sunday there will be opening the doors to everyone from 2 p.m to 4 p.m for an open house. It's for free, you will need to get a ticket from its website. Click this link.
