LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) -

The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office has arrested two people after a major drug bust on Sunday.

Officials said in a press conference Monday morning that $1.2 million worth of cocaine was seized during a traffic stop on I-75.

Miguel Angel Lebron Santana, 19, and Aneduy Ortega, 28, were arrested after officials pulled over a travel coach bus they were passengers of.

According to police, the driver of the bus was driving erratically and deputies stopped the bus around 6 p.m.

The bus was searched while it was pulled over. A K-9 unit picked up a scent and found around 100 pounds of cocaine in suitcases.

"It's enough to mess up a lot of people's lives, you know you take a hundred pounds of cocaine, that's a lot of cocaine," said Sheriff Ashley Paulk.

There were around 40 bricks recovered, and officials said that the cocaine had a street value of around $4 million.

"It's going to prevent other crimes, it's been said by the city here, that they've had eight homicides and they're all drug-related, drug territory, drug everything else," explained Paulk.

Officials believe the two men were traveling from Miami to New York.

"You gotta figure out how they're shipping it and what they're doing and start enforcing the law in that area," said Paulk. "There's a lot of things that you watch for peculiarities in people and the way people drive and things like that, to know what to look for."

The driver of the bus was issued a warning for reckless driving.

Santana and Ortega are now facing drug tracking charges and the cocaine will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency.

None of the other passengers were involved.
