CSRA (WFXG) -

The Charlie Norwood Medical Center has released the following information on closings and staff schedules:

  • Statesboro (Ga.) Community Based Outpatient Clinic will be closed Monday, Sept. 11. Patients are being rescheduled. Operations for Tuesday have not yet been decided.

  • The Director has initiated the Emergency Callback Disaster Plan for Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center. All VA Augusta staff are considered essential and should report to duty on their assigned tours and should stand ready to be activated for any enhanced staffing needs.

  • Both hospitals and the other two clinics (Athens & Aiken) continue operations as normal, including the Emergency Department. The Spinal Cord Injury Unit has taken in nine patients from another facility and will continue to support fellow facilities in Alabama, South Carolina, and others as needed.

  • The VA Augusta Hospital Command Center continues 24-hour operations, staffed by senior leaders and subject-matter experts.

  • For Veterans calling VA Augusta asking about/seeking shelter, those Veterans will be referred to our on-call social worker who will connect the Veterans with an appropriate shelter or solution for their needs.
