Burke Co: Hwy 56 at Byne Sunshine Road shut down for wreck involving a tractor trailer

BURKE COUNTY, GA (WFXG) -

Update: The Burke County Sheriff's Office says Highway 56 is back open in both directions.


The Burke County Sheriff’s Office, Burke County EMA Fire & Rescue and the Georgia State Patrol are at Highway 56 and Byne Sunshine Road for a crash involving a tractor trailer and an SUV. 

Crews are working to extricate the driver of the SUV who was the only person in the vehicle. Burke County EMS will be transporting this individual to the Augusta University Medical Center.

Highway 56 at Byne Sunshine Road is closed in both directions at this time and will be for the next 90 minutes to 2 hours.
