2.5 magnitude earthquake hits near SC/GA border

COLUMBIA COUNTY, GA (WFXG) -

Shortly before 2:00 a.m. Friday morning, many CSRA residents felt a rumbling beneath their feet. Some on social media described it as a loud boom.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake was a 2.5 magnitude at a depth of 5.1 miles. The epicenter of the earthquake was at 33.553°N 82.105°W, putting it right at Jones Creek Golf Club along Evans to Locks road.

No damage from the earthquake has been reported.

    A pedestrian is dead after bumping into a vehicle and falling onto the pavement in Augusta. Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen says the seventy-eight-year-old man was taken to Augusta University Medical Center, where died just before 9 a.m. the next morning.
