Alcohol ban set to go into effect at midnight ahead of second Orange Crush weekend

Thursday, April 20 is the unofficial start of the second weekend of Orange Crush.

Last weekend was known to be the less popular of the two Orange Crush weekends. However, this weekend is expected to have a much different turnout. They are expecting 80,000 people or possibly more along with celebrity guests and car and bike shows.

For the second straight weekend, the public alcohol consumption ban will go into effect Friday at midnight and will be enforced until 2:56 a.m. on Sunday, April 23, according to the Tybee Island Police Department. The ordinance bans drinking in all public places on the Island, including in parks, streets, sidewalks, boardwalks, beaches and in the waters.

Those planning to attend can expect a heavy presence of law enforcement officers out ensuring the safety of all visitors and residence on the island, as well as enforcing the no alcohol ban.
