City of Johnston hard by severe weather

JOHNSTON, SC (WFXG) -

Many folks in Johnston woke up to tons of damage and some were still without power. There are less than 3,000 people Johnston but it was one of the hardest hit in the CSRA. Young and Academy Streets had the most damage. About 10 homes  in Johnston were ruined yesterday. As of this morning, 4 still had trees fallen on the roofs. Some residents even had trees fall on their cars. Crews worked hard yesterday to clean as much debris from the road ways as they could but as far as the homes not much can be done.

The Mayor said he hopes to get everyone's power back up and running by the end of the week but clean up for this city is going to be a long process.

One of the middle schools  being used as shelters for those who were left homeless by the severe weather.
