BURKE COUNTY, GA (WFXG) -

A man has been arrested in an overnight shooting in Burke County.

Deputies were called to the 500 block of Boll Weevil Rd. in response to a shooting early Tuesday morning shortly after 12 a.m. When authorities arrived, they found a 25-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was considered to be in serious condition and was taken to a local hospital by Burke County EMA.

After an initial investigation, Burke County Deputies & Criminal Investigators were able to get a description of the suspect out and resulted in the discovery of a possible location. Authorities contacted the Richmond County Sheriff's Office who were able to arrest 28-year-old Cory Morgan Hatcher at 3:08 a.m. during a traffic stop. He was then turned over to the Burke County Sheriff's Office where he was transported to the BCSO Detention Center. Sheriff Alfonzo Williams stated that "teamwork with our Public Safety Partners in Richmond County along with the great job our Burke County Deputies did immediately after the incident helped to ensure this potentially violent suspect was in custody within 3 hours."
