PHOENIX (KNXV/CNN) - A controversial billboard criticizing President Donald Trump is turning a lot of heads in Phoenix.

The billboard shows Trump's face superimposed over a background that evokes the Nazi flag, but replaces the swastikas with dollar signs.

There are also mushrooms clouds in the background.

Beatrice Moore owns the property under the billboard and paid an artist from California to create the image. She said it's a form of standing up to the policies of the Trump administration.

It has generated quite a conversation.

"It's fantastic," Jeremy Bacpac said. "I think it's what art's supposed to do - make statements."

The opposition to the billboard is just as strong.

"The artist likes to express their viewpoint, but I got to wake up to Naziism for the next four year," one man said. "I've been here 35 years. This is the worst tagging stuff I've had in my neighborhood in 35 years."

One woman who is from the Czech Republic said the billboard's message is off-base.

"I moved here 1969 from Czech Republic, which was Communist at the time," Vlady Kristensen said. "I lives under total regime, so I know what I'm talking about. You guys got to understand what totalism means - he is not. He is president, OK? Where is the respect?"
