(WFXG) -

We have heavy hearts in the WFXG newsroom on Sunday.

We lost one of our very own, Don Logana. He passed away in an early morning car accident on Highway 17 near the Talmadge Bridge in South Carolina.

Logana was currently the weekday morning anchor at WTOC's THE News at Daybreak and an experienced investigative reporter exposing consumer issues. He had over twelve years of experience in the Savannah/Hilton Head market.  Many locally will remember Don anchoring shows on WFXG over the years.

Don received multiple awards and honors over the years including being voted best local News Anchor 2016 by Connect Savannah.

WTOC is saddened by the tragic event.

"Don was not only a valued member of our WTOC family, but a trusted friend to all," stated Larry Silbermann, Vice President/General Manager.

"Don was a great guy and such a big part of WTOC and our newsroom family, his loss has left us with a huge void that will be tough to fill," said Scott Galloway, News Director.

Before working at WTOC-TV, Don started his career in his hometown of Syracuse, New York at WIXT-TV.  He started as an intern and moved up the ranks to producer and reporter.  He later moved to Watertown, NY to become reporter and anchor at WWTI-TV.

Please keep us and the Logana family in your thoughts and prayers as we try to grasp this devastating news.
