COLUMBIA COUNTY, GA (WFXG) -

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office has one man in custody following an overnight homicide. Investigators say 24-year-old Lenell White confessed to killing Lavon Crawford.

According to the sheriff’s office, someone called 911 to report a crash involving a pedestrian on Washington Road near Steeplechase Lane. The call came in just after 11:30 p.m. on Sunday. People at the scene told investigators that they had not witnessed the crash. They saw Crawford on the side of the road and another man was standing over Crawford’s body.

That man was identified as Lenell White, who lives on Blanchard Woods Drive in Evans. Investigators found no evidence of a crash. The sheriff’s office says Crawford had several stab wounds to his neck. Deputies arrested White. K-9 Deputies located a knife about 15 yards away from the body.

White is charged with Murder and Possession of a Knife During the Commission of a Crime.
