Argument over NBA Finals game leads to stabbing

RICHMOND COUNTY, GA (WFXG) -

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says a stabbing early Tuesday morning started with an argument over an NBA Finals game. The stabbing happened around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday at an apartment on East Taylor Street.

According to an incident report, the victim told investigators he and his attacker had been arguing about the game. The victim says the other man punched him in the eye and then stabbed him with a sharp object. Two other people came into the room when they heard the commotion. The attacker ran away.

A sheriff’s deputy was on the way to the apartment when he spotted a car leaving the area with no headlights on. Investigators began following it. They learned the victim was inside the car and escorted the car to the hospital.

Investigators say the victim originally wanted to prosecute his attacker, but he later changed his mind.
