FORT HOOD, TX (KXXV) -

A total of nine Fort Hood soldiers died after their vehicle overturned in a flooded creek Thursday.

Twelve Fort Hood soldiers were riding in a Light Medium Tactical Vehicle (LMTV) for a routine training exercise at the Owl Creek Tactical Low-Water Crossing on East Range Road near Belton Lake when it overturned Thursday morning.

Three soldiers were rescued Thursday afternoon and taken to the hospital. They were released from the hospital on Friday.

The bodies of five other soldiers were recovered Thursday, while the bodies of the four remaining missing soldiers were found Friday.

The names of the soldiers who died will not be released until 24 hours after all next of kin have been notified.

Fort Hood personnel say they've received an outpouring of support from around the country for those soldiers and their families.

The Directorate of Family, Morale, Welfare & Recreation is currently accepting public donations for the families.

Families who need assistance should contact the Fort Hood Family Assistance Center at 254-288-7570.

The American Red Cross is also available through their Hero Care Network with things like funeral costs, although they won't be accepting cash donations from the public.
