RICHMOND COUNTY, GA (WFXG) - This week's High 5 4 Kids is the salutatorian for the graduating class of 2016 at T.W. Josey High School, an athlete and the list goes on.
"I don't always want to get up early, I don't always want to go to practice, I don't always want to do homework and I don't always want to study for tests. I have to motivate myself because it's what I have to do," said Marlon Brown.
And it's definitely paying off. Marlon Brown is the salutatorian of the graduating class of 20-16 at T.W. Josey High School.
"I juggled college courses, high school courses and upward bound classes all in one and it can be done while playing sports, working and whatever you want to do," said Brown.
Brown has a long list of many accomplishments during his time in high school. The recognition came in more ways than he imagined and that's what pushed him to the top.
"I'm going down the right path. I'm doing what's right," Brown said. "Not only are other adults recognizing my potential, but it's also my peers and my classmates."
He said his family played a major role in getting him to where he is now --- and making them proud was his reward.
Brown said what he hopes rising seniors learned from him, is hard work truly pays off.
"I kind of wanted to relive graduation over and over again because it was more magical than what I thought it would be," said Brown.
Brown will be attending Albany State University in the fall to study psychology. He will be entering college with 12 credit hours, almost putting him as a second semester freshmen.
He's working to become Doctor Marlon Brown.
