BURKE COUNTY, GA (WFXG) -

The body found floating in the Ogeechee River in Burke County on Friday, May 6, 2016, has been identified. An autopsy revealed the man is 31-year-old Deondray Johnson from Waynesboro.

Last week, Johnson was identified as the suspect in a different death investigation out of Jenkins County. You may remember FOX 54 reported authorities issued a warrant for Johnson in connection to the death of Victoria Baird. On Sunday, May 1, Baird was found dead inside her apartment on Tool Court in Millen.

The GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Decatur, Ga., is awaiting results of toxicology tests before Deondray Johnson’s cause of death can be released. The Burke County Sheriff’s Office says fishermen found Johnson’s body at the river in Midville. His body was decomposing and appeared to have been there for several days.

The GBI and the Burke County Sheriff’s Office are continuing the investigation. The GBI is asking that anyone with information concerning this investigation to call the Burke County Sheriff’s Office at 706-554-2133 or the GBI Office at 706-595-2575.
