MARTINEZ, GA (WFXG) -

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office needs help from the public to identify the man suspected of passing counterfeit money at a convenience store.

The man in the black shirt and white shorts is accused of paying with a fake $50 bill. The other man in the photos arrived and left with the suspect.

The transaction happened on Monday, April 18, 2016, at the Enmark gas station at 221 Bobby Jones Expressway in Martinez. Investigators say the $50 bill was one of three that had been passed the same day with the same serial number. They were reportedly washed or bleached $5 bills that were reprinted as $50 bills.

If you can help identify either of the men in these pictures, call the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office at 706-541-2800.
