LINCOLN COUNTY, GA (WFXG) -

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is trying to track down Butler Nero III in connection to the shooting outside a convenience store last weekend. The suspect is wanted on outstanding warrants of aggravated assault and firearms violations.

The shooting happened around 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, April 3 outside The Lucky 7 Convenience Store on Gordon Highway. A deputy who was working special duty at nearby Club Climax heard a gunshot and went to investigate. The deputy spotted a man trying to sneak between cars in the parking lot. The man saw the deputy approaching, ran to the waiting Hyundai Elantra and drove away. The car headed down Gordon Highway toward Highland Avenue.

The deputy found a victim suffering a gunshot wound. He managed to stop the bleeding before emergency workers arrived on the scene. The bullet went right through the victim’s arm before hitting him in the left side. The victim claims he didn’t know the shooter, but that the shooter asked about a woman whose name the victim didn’t recognize.

Nero is known to hang out near Calvary Drive. If you have any information that could help investigators track him down, please contact Investigator Lucas Grant, or any Violent Crimes Investigator at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (706) 821-1020 or 821-1080.
