(WFXG) - The controlled burns just keep coming this week. On Wednesday, March 9th, the Sumter National Forest – Long Cane Ranger District is taking care of a prescribed burn. This one will happen during the afternoon, along the Savannah River. Officials plan to burn 772 acres.
People will be able to see the fire from River Island, Mullikan Road and Fury's Ferry Road at the Savannah River. Winds should not carry the smoke deep into Columbia County – which is what irritated a lot of people's eyes on Tuesday.
Drivers in McCormick County should take extra precautions along Woodlawn and Deep Step Roads. There could be reduced visibility in those areas.
