2 p.m. UPDATE: Georgia Power is again struggling to restore service to thousands of customers. Right now, 7,981 customers in Richmond County do not have electricity. That's even more than lost power this morning during the storm. Columbia County has 1,157 outages. Burke County has about 399 outages. Jefferson: 717. Lincoln: 85. McDuffie: 101.

Jefferson Energy is also seeing a rise in service calls. Richmond County has 237 outages. Columbia has 163, and Jefferson County has another 194. There are much smaller numbers in McDuffie, Glascock and Burke.

Several thousand Aiken Electric Cooperative customers are also in the dark. 1391 outages are in Aiken County. Edgefield has 313 and Barnwell has another 213.

--------

NOON UPDATE: Power crews across the southeast had a busy Wednesday morning. By noon, most of the outages in the CSRA had been fixed. According to Georgia Power, Columbia County was down to about 177 outages -- a steep drop from what the county was experiencing around 6 a.m. About 172 customers in Burke County and 94 in Wilkes County were also waiting on restoration. Only a handful of outages remained in Glascock, Jefferson, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, Washington and Warren counties. Jenkins county had none.

Jefferson Energy has a few lingering outages in several counties. Warren County had the most -- 47.

Aiken Electric Cooperative also made progress against outages. Only 77 customers remained without power in Aiken County. None in Edgefield.

----------

UPDATE: According to the Augusta-Richmond County Emergency Management Agency, there are about 1,000 homes without power (as of 7:15 a.m.). Most of the power companies are getting service restored to customers though.

Georgia Power now reports just 41 outages in Richmond County. Columbia County still has 2,120 customers without power.

Aiken Electric Cooperative is confirming service outages for 330 customers in Aiken County. The agency has just 9 outages in Edgefield.

------------

As powerful storms move through the CSRA on Wednesday morning, they bring the possibility of fallen trees and power lines.

At one point, Georgia Power was reporting 3,356 outages in Columbia County. Richmond County had another 1,721 outages. Burke and McDuffie Counties had only a handful of outages each.

Meanwhile, Jefferson Power has 953 customers without power. Jefferson County had another 30. McDuffie reported in with 37 outages.
