Drivers along westbound Interstate 20 should expect traffic delays due to G-DOT's Weigh-in-Motion project. Work is happening between milemarkers 188 and 186.5, but delays may stretch beyond that during high-traffic times.
Work on the eastbound lanes wrapped up early Saturday morning. One westbound lane will remain closed through midday Sunday.
This is part of a statewide project to install weigh scales in the outside interstate lanes. This will help prevent tractor trailers from having to get off the road to use the weigh station – something that can cause major delays. The new "virtual" scales will send information to the nearby weigh station and to Georgia Highway Patrol officers for enforcement purposes.
