LINCOLN COUNTY, GA (WFXG) -

Crews will have to work into the weekend on the River Watch Parkway westbound railroad crossing near Quarry Road. G-DOT was hoping to have that work completed by the end of Friday, but a CSX equipment issue forced an extension until Saturday morning.

Traffic will continue to detour using Claussen Road and Stevens Creek Road. G-DOT hopes to remove the barricades and reopen the westbound lanes by 9 a.m. on Feb. 20, 2016.

Work on the eastbound railroad crossing is still scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016. The same detour will be in effect until next Friday, Feb. 26. Traffic enforcement authorities are encouraging drivers to take an alternate route if possible. Rainy weather could alter this schedule, and Georgia DOT will announce any changes next week.
