City of Augusta holding stormwater fee information meetings

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

The city of Augusta will hold three Stormwater information meetings in December. The meetings are scheduled for Augusta businesses, churches or other large property owners who want more information about the City's new Stormwater Utility program.

The meetings will include a discussion of the credit manual and application forms that are available online. The City Engineering Department will present updated information on the Stormwater program and answer questions that meeting attendees have.

Below are the meeting times and locations:

  • Monday, December 7, 1pm to 3 pm, Warren Road Community Center, 300 Warren Road, Augusta, 30907
  • Thursday, December 10, 2pm to 4 pm, Diamond Lakes Community Center, 103 Diamond Lakes Way, Hephzibah, 30815
  • Wednesday, December 16, 2pm to 4 pm, Henry H. Brigham Community Center, 2463 Golden Camp Road, Augusta, 30906.

The Stormwater Utility program is being implemented to maintain and improve the City’s stormwater system, and to comply with federal and state environmental standards.

Starting January 1, 2016, the Stormwater Utility fee will be $6.40 per month for single-family residential property with up to 4,400 square feet of impervious or hard surface area - rooftops and pavement. The fee will be $12.80 per month for single-family residential property with more than 4,400 square feet of impervious surface area. The fee for other property is calculated at a rate of $6.40 per 2,200 square feet of impervious surface area, with the availability of credits for stormwater detention and water quality features.
