AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Drivers can expect lane closures on Wrightsboro Road this week as crews finish up the widening and reconstruction project.
One of four lanes between Interstate 520 and Barton Chapel Road will be closed between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday for asphalt paving, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
One of two lanes on Wrightsboro Road from Sue Reynolds School to Barton Chapel Road will be closed during that same time this week for widening and curb, gutter and sidewalk construction.
The contractor also plans to tidy up curb and gutter tie-ins throughout the project and shift traffic onto the newly relocated Belair Road realignment at Wrightsboro Road on Tuesday.
Drivers will also see crews working on traffic signals at Belair Road and Augusta West Parkway. The new traffic signal at Belair Road will be in flash mode starting Thursday and will be fully operational on Sunday.
GDOT officials are asking drivers to be cautious in the area as contractors work to complete final construction-related items. They are asking that drivers watch for message boards warning of changes to traffic conditions and personnel working close to passing vehicles.
