EVANS, GA (WFXG) - Columbia County businessman Joe Mullins is running for the Georgia House of Representatives District 122 seat.
Mullins officially announced his candidacy Thursday at Evans Town Center Park.
The District 122 seat was left vacant by the resignation of Rep. Ben Harbin. Harbin told the Atlanta Journal Constitution that he left his seat to take a job with a national lobbying firm.
Mullins is founder and president of Mullins Management, Inc., an Evans-based property management firm that is also the parent company of Mullins Sports and Entertainment.
"My heart is in our community," Mullins said. "Nobody would work harder for our entire community to fix the problems that we face. We need more leaders who will oppose tax increases and wasteful spending. As a conservative, I deeply believe we need to change the way things are being done in government."
