Teen arrested in connection to Waynesboro shooting

WAYNESBORO, GA (WFXG) -

A suspect was arrested in connection with a shooting in Waynesboro on July 1. 

James Hicks Jr., 17, turned himself in to the Waynesboro Police Department Tuesday. 

Samuel D. Freeman was found in the 800 block of Cedar Street around 10 p.m. on July 1 with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Waynesboro Police Department. He was transported to Burke County Medical Center before officers arrived on the scene of the shooting. 

He was stabilized and transported a short time later to Georgia Regents Medical Center for further treatment. He was later pronounced dead as a result of his wounds.
