AIKEN COUNTY, SC (WFXG) -

A Greendale Elementary preschool student died in a wreck involving a school bus and a tractor-trailer in Aiken County Wednesday morning, according to the school's website

Kyrie C. Henry, 4, of Aiken was killed when the bus he was riding crossed over the center line on Beech Island Avenue and collided with a tractor-trailer, Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said. The wreck happened just before 7 a.m. near Scarborough Drive.

Another student from Greendale Elementary and the bus driver, 51-year-old Barbara Moore, were also injured, according to the highway patrol. Both were taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center. Moore has minor injuries. The condition of the other student is unknown.

A total of eight students and two adults were on the bus at the time of the crash.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, 44-year-old James Gillette, was not injured, troopers said. The coroner said Gillette tried to avoid being hit by the school bus when it swerved into his lane, but was hit on the driver's side anyway.

Aiken County school officials notified parents about the wreck Wednesday morning via a recorded message. They said counselors will be available at schools impacted by the wreck.
