JENKINS COUNTY, GA (WFXG) -

A judge denied bond for the stepmother and half brother of a Millen woman whose remains were found in the backyard of a Jenkins County home where she used to live.

Susan and Christopher Lovette were arrested in connection with the death of 27-year-old Ashley Lovette. They are each charged with giving false statements, tampering with evidence, concealing death and financial transaction card fraud.

Relatives told deputies in July that Ashley Lovette was missing, but a report was not filed until early 2015, said Jenkins County Sheriff Robert Oglesby. On April 10, investigators found remains believed to belong to Ashley Lovette in the backyard of a house on Williams Street.

Ashley Lovette used to live at that house with her biological father, stepmother and half brother, Oglesby said, but just a few months ago the family moved.

Relatives of Ashley Lovette say she was a special needs adult who needed care and supervision.
