4 arrested after high-speed chase that crossed through 2 counties

LINCOLN COUNTY, GA (WFXG) -

Four people were arrested Thursday after a chase that started in Richmond County and ended in Aiken County. 

Officials with the Richmond County said deputies were called to the Dollar General on Washington Road just after 7 p.m. in reference to drug activity.

When they arrived on the scene, officers tried to initiate a traffic stop, and that's when the car chase started. Officials said the chase ended on Sandbar Ferry Road just over the county line in Aiken County.

During the pursuit, officers said they saw an item thrown from the vehicle. The item was later identified as a 9 mm handgun.

The following people were arrested, according to the Aiken County Sheriff's Office: 

  • William David Paul Beasley was charged with unlawful possession of a sawed-off shotgun, driving under suspension (third or subsequent offense) 
  • Harline Michelle Gaines was charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol, theft of controlled substance (first offense), unlawful possession of a sawed-off shotgun and unlawful possession of a stolen firearm
  • Timothy Shane Baughman Jr. was charged with sale or delivery of handgun to and possession by certain persons unlawful (stolen handguns), bench warrant for driving under suspension, operating uninsured vehicle, unlawful possession of a sawed-off shotgun, unlawful carrying of pistol
  • David Alan Isbell was charged with unlawful possession of a sawed-off shotgun
