BRYAN COUNTY, GA (WFXG) - One of five Georgia Southern University students killed in a crash on Interstate 16 near Savannah Tuesday was from Millen.
Caitlyn Baggett and the four others were all nursing students. Two other Georgia Southern students were injured.
The crash happened around 5:45 a.m. on I-16 in Bryan County and involved seven vehicles. The students who died were in two separate vehicles.
Georgia Southern University President Brooks Keel released a statement on the university's website.
"Every one of our students contributes, in no small measure, to the Eagle Nation. The loss of any student, especially in a tragic way, is particularly painful. Losing five students is almost incomprehensible," Keel wrote. "Our hearts go out to the families, friends and classmates of these students."
The other four students killed were:
Emily Clark, a junior from Powder Springs, Ga.
Morgan Bass, a junior from Leesburg, Ga.
Abbie Deloach, a junior from Savannah, Ga.
Catherine (McKay) Pittman, a junior from Alpharetta, Ga.
