2 officers resign after inmate beating incident

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Two supervising officers at a Georgia prison have resigned after a photo of an Augusta teen being abused by other inmates surfaced on social media, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.

The photo shows an inmate holding a strap around Cortez Berry's neck at the Al Burruss Correctional Training Center. Another inmate was standing behind Berry in the photo.

Berry told his family members that he was attacked and beaten by 10 inmates in his cell.

After the incident, Berry was transferred to Smith State Prison and later to Macon State Prison, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. The two other inmates involved were also moved to other facilities.
