Some schools to have 2-hour delay due to cold temps

EDGEFIELD COUNTY, SC (WFXG) -

Some CSRA schools are delaying classes Thursday and Friday due to cold temperatures.

All students in the Edgefield County School District will report two hours later than usual on Thursday and Friday. Staff will report at the normal time on both days.

Horse Creek Academy, a charter school in Aiken County, will operate on a two-hour delay Thursday, but other schools in the Aiken County Public School District will operate on a regular schedule.

Richmond County, Columbia County, Burke County and McDuffie County schools said they will operate on a normal schedule as well. Richmond County students will be allowed entrance into the schools 30 minutes earlier than normal to avoid them having to stand in the cold.

Temperatures are expected to drop in the single digits Thursday and Friday. The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory from midnight to 9 a.m. Thursday.
