BATH, SC (WFXG) - One man is dead, and another is still recovering in the hospital after a shooting Friday night. The Aiken County Sheriff's Office said Cameron Clark, 24, died from a gunshot wound on Railroad St.
The crime scene tape is down, but a lot of questions still linger about the shooting that happened on Railroad Street.
Troy Gregory and his family live just two houses down, and he was out walking with a friend when he heard the gunshots.
"I thought it was fireworks at first, come to find out it wasn't. My instincts were, I was going to go over there. Don't know why. That's just me. I was going to go over there and something told me not to," he said.
The shots killed Cameron Clark, and wounded Jacob Humphries, 27.
Gregory says he sees people going in and out of the house at all hours of the day, and he's gone to local law enforcement to ask for help to put a stop to what many in the community say is drug dealing.
"The law says their hands are tied. I don't know how, maybe they don't care. Maybe it's not big enough for them, I don't know," said Gregory.
Several other neighbors who did not want to be identified agree with Gregory. They said drug dealing in the community is a problem that desperately needs fixed.
"[The police] need to tighten up, tighten up real bad. They say 'It's everywhere' of course it's everywhere. Do something about it. They know it's going on," Gregory said.
As the investigation continues, Gregory and his neighbors hope that this serves as a wake-up call, and that something will finally be done to help clean up the streets.
Humphries was taken to Georgia Regent's Health Center to be treated for his injuries.
The Aiken County Sheriff's Office said this is an ongoing investigation, and they are still in the process of identifying suspects.
