Proctor & Gamble to close Augusta plant

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Proctor & Gamble is closing its Augusta plant, a spokesperson for the company said.

The plant, located at 3464 Mike Padgett Highway, will close in the next 12 to 18 months, spokesperson Jeff LeRoy said.

The 40 employees at the Augusta plant will be offered a chance to relocate to another plant, LeRoy said. If they don't choose to relocate, the company will offer them a voluntary separation package.

LeRoy said the company is in the process of redesigning and building new facilities and decided that the Augusta plant is no longer needed.
