AIKEN, SC (WFXG) -

An 18-year-old Aiken man is accused of trying to extort money from a family member by lying and saying that someone kidnapped him and was holding him to ransom, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.

Jonathan Fountain is wanted on a blackmail charge, investigators said.

Fountain sent text messages to a family member on Nov. 25 saying he was being held against his will by an armed individual, according to an arrest warrant. Fountain texted the family member that the person holding him was demanding $10,000. He later called the family member and said that it was all a hoax.

Investigators determined the kidnapping and ransom were a hoax, and no other individuals were involved.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Fountain is asked to contact Crimestoppers of the Midlands at 1-888-CRIME-SC (1-888-274-6372). Callers will remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

It's a startling statistic but the VA estimates that 20 veterans commit suicide every day. And 10-percent of all vets will suffer from PTSD.  Right here in the CSRA, the VA Center and PGA "Hope Program" encourages veterans to relax with the game of golf.  Despite the gloomy forecast today, veterans made their way onto Jones Creek Golf Course for a session on the links.
