Waynesboro man charged in Thomson bank robbery

THOMSON, GA (WFXG) -

A Waynesboro man is charged with the armed robbery of a bank in Thomson on Oct. 31, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. 

Cortavious Darshun Johnson, 24, is accused of robbing the Regions Bank located at 1398 Washington Road in Thomson, according to the GBI. Investigators said he entered the bank around 1:53 p.m., pulled out a handgun and took an undisclosed amount of money. 

Deputies with the McDuffie County Sheriff's Office responded around 1:55 p.m. after receiving a 911 call about the robbery. 

Johnson was arrested around 10:45 p.m. on Oct. 31 in Morgan County. He was transported back to McDuffie County later.
