RCSO: Investigation into allegations of illegal steroid use turned over to GBI

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - The investigation into allegations that Richmond County Sheriff's Office employees have used illegal steroids has been turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the sheriff's office announced Tuesday.

Brandon Paquette, a man arrested and charged with possessing steroids, made accusations Friday that multiple past and present sheriff's office employees had illegally used steroids, according to the sheriff's office. Paquette's allegations of illegal steroid use date back to 2004.

The sheriff's office said Friday that the GBI would administer a polygraph to determine whether the allegations were true. Based on the results of that exam, the investigation has been turned over to the GBI, the sheriff's office announced Tuesday.

Paquette was arrested on Oct. 22 and charged with possession of testosterone with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to the sheriff's office. His brother, Cameron Paquette, also was arrested and charged with threatening the narcotics investigator involved in his Brandon Paquette's arrest.
