LINCOLN COUNTY, GA (WFXG) - A 70-year-old man is behind bars in connection with a shooting that happened Friday on Parkwood Road.
Terry Lanier is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime, according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.
Lanier is accused of shooting his neighbor in the leg during an argument around 4:35 p.m., according to an incident report. Lanier's neighbor told deputies that the argument started because he asked some of Lanier's relatives to move out of the roadway because they were blocking it.
Lanier pulled a shotgun out of his vehicle, and when the neighbor turned, Lanier shot him in the leg, buttocks and left arm, according to the incident report. The neighbor fired his .38-caliber revolver back but missed.
As he was lying in the driveway, Lanier came and took the .38-caliber revolver from him. Lanier told deputies he took the gun so that the victim couldn't shoot anymore.
Deputies arrived and arrested Lanier. The victim was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center for treatment.
