RSCO: Not investigating Dunn's death as a homicide

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

We're learning more about the death of a Cross Creek High School student who was found dead Tuesday in the woods behind the school.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office would not comment on whether foul play could be a factor in Nicholas Dunn's death. They tell WFXG they're waiting on the autopsy and toxicology results first, which could take weeks.

Grief counselors were at Cross Creek on Wednesday, helping students cope after Dunn's body was recovered.

Mark Bowen, the Richmond County Coroner, said the body of the 18-year-old was found in the woods. The teen had been missing since a football game last weekend.

"I haven't really been getting any sleep because of this,” said Joy Garret, Dunn's aunt. “The only thing I can think about is my nephew and by me knowing him since we was a little baby, it's just shocking. It's just shocking."

Richmond County sheriff's officials say Dunn's death isn't being investigated as a homicide. All we do know, at this point, is it was found in an area that could only be reached by an ATV.
