AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - An autopsy was completed Wednesday on Recardell Sheppard, the Josey High School student who collapsed during a pick-up basketball game Monday and died.
The Richmond County Coroner's Office said the findings of the autopsy are pending toxicology and histology results, which could take up to 26 weeks to complete.
There also was another vigil Wednesday night to remember Recardell, known to friends and family as CJ.
Family, friends and students gathered behind Josey High School's gym with candles to honor his life. Those close to him say he will be remembered for his spunky personality.
"It was sad," said Kareem Manigault a friend of CJ's. "I did shed a tear but his life was full of celebration. He was a nice kid and I looked up to him. He's like a role model."
