Man dies in motorcycle wreck in Aiken County

AIKEN COUNTY, SC (WFXG) - A Georgia man has died after a motorcycle crash late Saturday night in Aiken County.

Joe Dansby, 65, of Harlem, Ga. was pronounced dead at the scene around 11:27 p.m., according to the Aiken County Coroner's Office.

Dansby was traveling southeast on Highway 278 near Tinker Road in Aiken County when he lost control of his Honda 1300 motorcycle, according to the coroner's office. He was rounding a turn when he failed to negotiate it properly and left the roadway.

Dansby was believed to be traveling to the Charleston area.

The cause of death was multiple body trauma, Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said.

Dansby was driving on a suspended license, according to the coroner's office. 

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the coroner's office are investigating the crash.
